Cookies, Caroling and Gift Exchange

Christmas Cookie Making, Caroling and Gift Exchange

By: Bella Secchiaroli

A few days before Christmas we had a small get together to get us into the spirit. We jammed out to some Mariah Carey and Nsync Christmas Classics, made cookies, went caroling from door to door ended the night with a gift exchange.

Cookie Making

We made the cookies previous to our caroling so we could give the cookies to the people who listened to us sing, almost as a bribe to listen to us (lol). Since one of our closest friends is gluten-free we made something called Grinch Popcorn which is super easy! We also made some other cookies and sweets like peppermint bark, and peanut butter kiss cookies. At the end we packaged a sample of each baked good in a box tied off with a ribbon for our carolees. People seemed to be really happy to receive these.

Caroling

Conveniently many of our friends who joined us were in choir with us where we had to learn six different carols. Bella also printed out the lyrics to the carols for those who were not in choir. Although we were not very good by any means we had a lot of fun and many of the neighbors seemed to enjoy it. It was a rewarding experience in a way that we had a ton of fun and made lots of people smile in return.

Gift exchange

Lastly at the end of the night we had a gift exchange. We set a budget of $20 for a gift and played by the rules of a yankee swap. Each of us picked a number and ended up with a gift. It was a ton of fun and everyone actually ended up with something they liked. I brought a Starbucks gift card with a coffee keychain. I mean who doesn’t like starbucks?? Everybody had a great time and we definitely felt in the Christmas spirit:-)).
