City Girls

By: Bella and Bella

Last Friday, Bella, 9 friends, and I decided we would spend a day in New York City. We caught a 9:03 am train from Milford, that arrived at Grand Central Terminal in New York at 10:40 am. Since we go a school where girls come from all over southern Connecticut, a lot of our friends are from different towns, including Stratford, Trumbull, East Norwalk, Rowayton and New Canaan. Most of these towns are on the train line, so we all conveniently met up on the train.

After lots of debacle over where we would eat and attempting to make reservations at a variety of places, I ended up choosing where we would eat. At first we tried making reservations at Alice’s Tea Cup and Serendipity 3 (both on the Upper East Side) but as we had a party of eleven people and the fact that these places are extremely popular, it was hard to get a reservation and for the restaurants to accommodate for a party of eleven without it being expensive. So I did minimal research and found a 80s themed diner called Big Daddy’s. They served ok food and good milkshakes but we concluded as a group that we would most likely not return. It was definitely not a favorite. Once we got to back to Grand Central Terminal we opted for a drink to go at Starbucks and cupcakes from Magnolia’s Bakery that are absolutely delicious to take with us on the train.IMG_0744

After lunch, we made our way to Central Park and took pictures with the bears and the Alice in Wonderland statues. Not only was this part of the trip fun, but it was a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the city.

IMG_0808.JPGAfter walking through Central Park, we walked down 5th Avenue and stopped in a variety of stores as we made our way back to the train station. We passed the Plaza Hotel, which we decided not to go in but is really fun if you decide to go into the city and then stopped into Trump Tower for a bathroom break and to look around. It was quite interesting. As we made our way down we went into the Lindt Chocolate store and Sephora. We also saw the windows at Tiffany’s and Saks. The favorite stop of the group would have to have been the American Girl Store. We all reminisced from our days playing with our dolls and took a look at the History dolls, my personal favorite. Lastly we stopped in Urban Outfitter and seriously contemplated about buying a polaroid camera or maybe a record player. None of us did however, I am still considering. Urban Outfitters has cute clothes and also really nice room décor and technology. Finally we made it to Grand Central Terminal with hurting feet and 11 very tired girls

Since we decided to take a train back during a busy commuting hour, we got to the station a half hour early,  had a quick snack as mentioned before, and found good seats on the train. We eventually got back to Milford at 6:20 pm.
